It is with a tinge of sadness, but great anticipation, that today marks the close of my time as President of Direct Travel Luxe. It's been a privilege building a respected brand with other travel industry professionals. Luxe is now a coast-to-coast presence, with some of the finest travel advisors you'll find anywhere. I especially want to offer my thanks to my colleague and friend Gerard Bellino, who has helped me pave the way for my transition to creating Elán; I will forever be indebted to him for his support since I first shared my plans over a year ago. There are many others who have encouraged me along this journey, and I would be remiss if I didn't offer my thanks to Matthew Upchurch, the President of Virtuoso, who has provided valuable counsel as I contemplated this move.
Most importantly, I will be eternally grateful for the support of my wonderful clients. Over the years, we have not only had a professional relationship, but have developed deep and lasting friendships, bonding over our mutual love of discovering the world. I hope that those of you with whom I have worked as an advisor will continue to trust me as your advisor.
Beginning tomorrow, 1/1/2020, Elán "goes live." I will occasionally spend some time in DT's Naperville office, but on a daily basis I will generally be working out of other locations, either one of our homes in the Chicago suburbs or in southwest Wisconsin, where we have built a retreat high on a bluff overlooking a verdant valley that feeds into the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers, which are both a stone's throw from our home. It is equally likely that we will be connecting when I am somewhere abroad, pursuing the never-ending quest to learn more about the most exclusive travel destinations in the world. With the benefits of modern connectivity, I will maintain the same level of availability to clients and vendors that I have always provided. Additionally, I will continue to work with and through DT and my Virtuoso colleagues to offer, uninterrupted, the same level of service my clients have come to expect.
I will continue to be available at [email protected] and (+1) 630.420.3538. Thank you for your continued support. Michael and I wish you peace, prosperity and happiness in 2020.
